Gym buddies challenge: log commitments without comparing weights
You share a gym but follow different routines and goals. Counting weight lifted or sets completed mixes activities that are not directly comparable.
Keep your own routine
Use your usual routine or the one agreed with a qualified professional. This agreement tracks attendance or personal follow-through; it does not replace the routine or ask for extra volume to win.
Choose one check-in unit
Count either an attendance day or a day when the personal commitment was met. Agree on one unit before starting. Do not add extra check-ins for exercises, heavier loads or divided sessions.
Use one place to see progress. Photos should be optional and respect gym rules and other people nearby.
Respect planned rest
Individual goals should include the rest in each person’s routine. If the gym closes, someone travels or needs a pause, use the agreed pause rule and review the next period.
A three-person example
Three gym buddies count days when their own commitments were completed. One attends in the morning and the others later. A second gym visit on the same day does not create a second check-in under this template.
Duplicates, ties and gym permission
Review uncertain duplicates together before closing the period. Accept ties or share recognition instead of using extra weight, repetitions or a session outside the routine.
Review venue rules if you plan photos, signs, prizes or official gym participation. This is not automatic attendance tracking and does not connect Rally to a turnstile, membership or gym management system.
